    The Lobi are a West African people living in south-west Burkina Faso, north-west Ghana and north-east Côte d'Ivoire, mainly in the Bouna region, close to Ghana and Burkina Faso, on the right bank of the Black Volta. Their origin is known through mythical tales, their migration would have started from the present northern Ghana, crossing the Wa region and the Volta, a few centuries ago. Lobiri, also known as lobi or miwa, is a gour language spoken in Burkina Faso by 220,172 people in 20062 and in Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana by nearly 156,000 in 1993.
